About

My name is Yannic Heintzen and I am a designer (M.A.). My focus is the combination of design and coding, as well as editorial design. I have a B.A. in design with a focus on photography and moving image and a Master of Arts in communication design. My master’s thesis was selected by the Design Zentrum Hamburg as one of the twenty best graduation projects of 2023. I have worked in advertising agencies and e-learning for several years and in the future I would like to continue to learn and contribute to design and art research, teaching and culture. Currently I’m working as a freelancer and lecturer.

I wrote my master’s thesis (view here) in the field of artistic research. The title is “Rhapsodische Maschinen. Der Entwurfsprozess als archäologische Methode” (Rhapsodic machines. The design process as an archaeological method) Combining and expanding digital and non-digital work is the focus of my approach to design in general. I am a tinkerer and want to take everything apart in order to understand it. I want to better understand this childlike, haptic, aesthetic and creative mode of working and make it usable for research and projects.

Other

Outside my profession as a designer, I’m a climber and a route setter. I’m currently setting boulder problems at the oldest and certainly the coziest gym in Hamburg Salon du Bloc. For more bouldering stuff visit my bloc book
